Gunia
SKU: 0079011Gunia is a special symbol of the Carpathians. It is made entirely by hand using traditional lizhnyk weaving techniques: from wool that is gently sheared, spun into yarn, and woven into a piece that becomes a natural protection from cold and wind. Gunia is the outerwear of the mountain people. Children were also wrapped in a gunia in the past—when they needed to be carried, warmed, or shielded from the wind. A gunia smells of smoke and sheep. People walked in it through morning dew, slept under the stars, and listened to the way morning is born in the mountains. We preserved the technique but made the gunia comfortable for children and suitable for modern life, so that the tradition stays alive. Gunia–kotsovanya, hand-woven on an ancient loom. Material: 100% wool from Carpathian sheep.
